The World Economic Forum predicted (*) that by 2025 we will see :
On the topic of Education, Dr. Denise Trauth, President of Texas State University, said “What we see in particular is that business is being impacted by two factors in particula r: One is technology, and the other is globalization. And those two factors have a big impact on everything we do”.While Dr. Trauth does not believe that other forms of learning will replace face-to-face learning very soon, she recognizes the important role that technology plays in education nowadays. Technology affects every aspect of our lives, so it is not surprising that it is changing the way students learn.“We have configured the classrooms differently. That’s one thing. All of these classrooms obviously are capable of having lots and lots of technology, whether you’re talking about the individual devices, or you’re talking about the devices the instructor is using.”
Today’s students need real-world skills to thrive in a non-distant future.
On top of critical thinking and problem-solving, the digital skills that were once needed from computer science students are now critical across most professions. This requires that education institutions deliberately create conditions where learners can develop and demonstrate these skills.
If we can equip our students with technological skills and a growth and agile mindset they will be ready for the years ahead.
For this, student-centricity will allow education institutions to move from a traditional curriculum approach where mastery of each topic is expected to a model of learning, where each student is given the practical skills to achieve their personal potential through the acquisition of future-ready skills
.To support institutions in their transformation, Microsoft has developed the Microsoft Education Transformation Framework - a research and experience-driven way to fast track success.Recognizing that school contexts vary and that change can be "whole school" or "incremental", the framework is open and non-prescriptive, providing a flexible starting point.(*) Source: Deep Shift Technology Tipping Points and Societal Impact, World Economic Forum report (2015)
